HData Centralizes Access to Utility IRPs and Transmission Plans

HData’s new Resource & Transmission Plans Catalog centralizes integrated resource plans (IRPs) from 150 power utilities across the country, and transmission plans from grid operators including CAISO, ERCOT, MISO, PJM, and SPP. This release provides HData users with thousands of documents that are otherwise highly difficult and time-consuming to locate across disparate docket systems and utility websites.

HData’s purpose-built AI enables analysis of IRP and transmission plan details, and saves significant time working with documents that are often hundreds of pages long. Users can also perform tailored searches across the entire national catalog of planning documents. Searching from a central location helps uncover information about broader trends, such as utilities that are planning to retire coal plants, invest significantly in battery storage, or plan to leverage funding from the Inflation Reduction Act.

IRPs serve as strategic roadmaps for utilities, detailing how they will meet future energy demands while balancing reliability, sustainability, and cost considerations. The catalog also features transmission plans from regional grid operators, which contain information about grid expansion needs, specific transmission projects, cost estimates and timelines, planning studies and stakeholder involvement.

The addition of these documents to the HData platform provides further visibility and streamlined access to regulatory energy activity happening across the country. The catalog is available to HData customers in the HData Library, along with recent releases of state-level docket catalogs including Texas, Florida, New York, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.
