HData announced that Meghan Nutting has joined its Board of Advisors, bringing more than 20 years of experience in energy, sustainability, and public policy at the state and federal levels.
Nutting is the Vice President of Regulatory Reform at the Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC), an independent national nonprofit organization that builds the foundation for the rapid, affordable, and equitable adoption of clean energy and energy efficiency. Nutting also founded and was the principal consultant of Altitude Strategies Consulting, an energy and power-delivery advisory firm. She spent a decade as Executive Vice President of Government and Regulatory Affairs at Sunnova Energy, a residential solar and storage provider, where she was the only person to hold that role and helped guide the company's growth from thousands of customers to nearly half a million, including through its 2019 initial public offering. Earlier in her career, she was Director of Policy and Electricity Markets at SolarCity/Tesla, Legislative Director for New York State Assemblymember Linda Rosenthal, and Press Secretary for former U.S. Sen. Olympia Snowe of Maine. She also held policy positions at the World Bank and the United Kingdom's Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
Nutting founded Women in Solar Energy and Sunnova's Women's Leadership Network. A frequent public speaker, she has spoken at more than 50 industry conferences and events, including on grid resilience efforts in Puerto Rico. She has also served on numerous boards including the Solar Energy Industries Association, the Puerto Rico Solar Energy and Storage Association and the Energy Choice Coalition. She won the U.S. Department of Energy's C3E Business Award in 2021, and Solar Power World named her to its #Solar100 list of industry thought leaders. The Denver Business Journal recognized her as a top woman in energy in 2018 and in business in 2021.
