Longest serving FERC chairman named in advisory role for RegTech company that recently launched a new compliance platform for U.S. energy sector
JOLIET, Illinois — Jon Wellinghoff, the former chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and current CEO of GridPolicy, Inc., has joined regulatory technology solutions provider HData in an advisory role. Wellinghoff’s appointment follows HData’s launch of FERC Pro, a new energy regulatory compliance and data analytics platform.
Wellinghoff will provide HData with strategic counsel, drawing on his regulatory expertise and decades of leadership promoting modernization and efficiency throughout the energy sector.
FERC Pro combines two components. FERC Pro’s Filing Solution, offered by IRIS Business Services, helps energy companies create and file their annual and quarterly reports without the need for manual data entry. FERC Pro’s Data Hub, offered by HData, delivers instant insights and analytics into FERC filing data.
“FERC Pro helps electric utilities and pipeline companies meet FERC reporting requirements with ease, while also providing data-driven insights available nowhere else,” said Wellinghoff. “In particular, HData’s Data Hub, which allows searches and comparisons of individual numbers across all FERC utility and pipeline filings, would have saved me untold hours as an energy lawyer and as a regulator. I look forward to working with HData’s team to use RegTech to make energy regulatory data work better for all its users.”
“We are thrilled to add Jon Wellinghoff to our Board of Advisors,” said HData founder and CEO Hudson Hollister. “His experience and insight will be invaluable as we continue to improve FERC Pro. Jon recognizes the benefits of automating the filing process and giving energy companies a comprehensive view of their own, and industry-wide, financial and operations data.”
HData’s Board of Directors joined in welcoming Wellinghoff. “We are honored to have Jon join our team. His command of federal regulatory policy and intimate knowledge of the pain points faced by energy companies and regulators will guide our business decisions and deliver tremendous value for the FERC Pro platform,” said Christina Ho, former Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Financial Transparency and current Vice President of Government Analytics and Innovation at Elder Research, Inc.
