New capability unlocks more thorough and detailed responses to complex prompts
HData today announced the release of Deep Research, a new capability within Regulatory AI that handles complex, multi-part research questions across large volumes of regulatory filings. The launch gives utilities, regulators, advocates, advisory firms, and energy technology companies the ability to perform deeper analysis on multiple questions or requirements within a prompt, such as in-depth comparisons, questions that span numerous topics or proceedings, or when more granular details are needed from a large data set.
Deep Research works differently than a standard AI query. Rather than answering a question as a single ask, it automatically breaks a multi-part question into a research checklist, searches across as many as 400 documents per session, and synthesizes the results into one structured report. The output preserves the granular detail that regulatory work demands, including witness names, exhibit numbers, dates, and dollar figures, and is built for the kind of comparative analysis that goes into legal briefs, testimony review, and cross-case research.
Deep Research draws on HData's regulatory data library, one of the largest collections of public filings, dockets, proceedings, and legislation in the energy sector, giving users a single place to run that research instead of assembling it by hand across dozens of sources. It runs alongside Regulatory AI’s existing Standard mode within the same session, so users can start with a fast, more summarized response, and escalate to Deep Research when a question requires deeper investigation.
