Washington, DC — Hudson Hollister, who founded the Data Coalition and led it until his departure last year, today launched HData, a new consulting firm created to help data companies apply new technologies to transform government mandates, compliance, and reporting. HData begins operations with eight clients, all of whom are market leaders in regulatory and legal technology.
“New technologies can make it easier for agencies to manage regulations, cheaper for industries to comply with them, and more profitable for markets to react to regulatory information,” said Hollister. “Our clients supply the best solutions to transform these processes; HData understands the demand. HData is ready to help leading data companies build the relationships and awareness they need to apply their RegTech solutions on a national scale.”
Hollister started his career as a securities litigator, joined a transformation task force at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, and led data transparency reforms and oversight at the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform before founding the Data Coalition in 2012. Under his leadership, the Data Coalition grew to nearly 50 member companies, successfully passed the DATA Act in 2014, and laid the groundwork for the passage of the OPEN Government Data Act late last year. Hollister also founded the Data Foundation, a think tank working to define an open future for government’s and society’s data, in 2016. Hollister remains on the Boards of Directors of both organizations and HData has joined the Data Coalition as a Startup Member.
HData also announced an eleven-member Board of Advisors, including former New York State chief data officer Barb Cohn; former White House Office of Science and Technology Policy senior advisor and BrightHive co-founder Natalie Evans Harris; Laura Manley, director, Harvard Kennedy School, Belfer Center's Technology and Public Purpose Project; and Dr. Anne Washington, assistant professor of data policy at the NYU Steinhardt School. The Board of Advisors represents the nation’s leading expertise in applying data technologies to government, regulatory, and legal processes. The Board will convene to develop new perspectives on government reporting and assist HData’s clients in their growth.
HData’s initial clients include:
Elder Research, Inc., whose anti-fraud analytics platform is the only one to use federal spending data, as standardized and published under the DATA Act, to calculate a tested risk score for every federal contract;
