Cite Your Work in a Flash

When you’re working with regulatory data, every claim needs to stand on solid ground. You can’t afford vague references or hidden sources. You need proof you can trust, and tools that make sharing that proof effortless.

That’s why citations are at the heart of Regulatory AI. Every answer is tied directly to its source, so you always know where information comes from, and can validate it yourself in seconds. Now, with Book Reports, In-Text Citations, and the Files View, you have even more powerful and convenient ways to track, verify, and share your work.

Citations You Can Trust

Regulatory AI citations are designed to make it clear where your answers and insights came from, so you can focus on your research instead of second-guessing your sources. Regulatory AI offers:

  • One-click validation: Jump straight to the exact file and page number where an answer originated.
  • Authoritative documents : Users select sources for each session from HData's Dockets Catalog, which only include official documents filed with FERC or individual state commissions.
  • Easy collaboration: Share clear, transparent references with colleagues by sharing your session or sharing the Book Report.

This level of transparency helps you quickly validate your research, whether you’re double-checking a number, preparing a report, or collaborating with colleagues. Here we'll discuss Book Reports, In-text Citations, and the Files View; and how they make verifying your research quick and easy.

Book Reports: Turn Sessions into Shareable Research Packages

Book Reports bring all of the platform's citation power into one downloadable package. At the end of every session, you can now generate an interactive PDF that preserves not just your questions and answers, but also the full citation trail behind them.

With Book Reports, you can review your queries and responses, including direct links to sources, all in one place. You can also share findings seamlessly in an easily navigable package, and keep proof at hand with every citation listed by file, page number, and quoted text. Instead of piecing together citations yourself, you walk away from each session with a ready-to-use, trustworthy report.

Navigating Sources and Citations with the Files View

Citations don’t just power Book Reports, they also unlock deeper workflows in the Files View. By toggling to the Files tab, you can sort, filter, and drill into your session’s documents to quickly identify what matters most.

Sometimes you need to dig deeper into your sources. With the Files View, you can:

  • Sort files alphabetically by catalog or file name, or by citation count to see which sources were referenced most often.

  • Open documents directly by clicking the file title, launching the full document in a new tab.

  • Explore context with file metadata, including docket or case associations, allowing you to find other documents important to your session.

  • Drill down further by viewing citations from any individual file, or reading the AI-generated summary to get the big picture at a glance.

Watch the short demo below for an overview of using the files view.

Together with Book Reports, the Files View makes it simple to move from broad exploration to focused analysis by helping you quickly pinpoint key documents, validate findings, or create a new session with just the files most relevant to your research.

In-Text Citations: Sources Right Where You Need Them

With In-Text Citations, you don't have to interrupt your workflow to check citations. In-text citations, make it easier than ever to trace answers directly back to their sources while working in a session. Just click the quotation mark icons embedded throughout the response text to see the source document(s) and cited text that were used to generate each part of your response.

Click any In-Text Citation to open a side panel with:

  • The title of the source document, that links to the original PDF file and opens to the cited page

  • The exact page number where the citation can be found

  • The quoted text used in the response

Watch the short demo below for an overview of using in-text citations.

With in-text citations, every answer from Regulatory AI is fully transparent, giving you complete confidence in your research and analysis.
